As most of you already know, I have been working for the past nine months for a Christian ministry called IBLP (Institute in Basic Life Principles), and it has been an amazing experience, one I will never forget! Recently though, God gave clear direction that it was time for me to return home. My main reason for returning home was to help my dad as he has just taken the position of State Director for Capitol Ministries Texas http://www.capmin.org/. The best way to describe the ministry is that he will be working as a missionary to the Senators, Legislators, Lobbyists, and anyone else working there in the Texas State Capitol. Right now he is currently working on raising support (it is a support based ministry, much like any other mission work would be), and about a month ago my dad asked me to come home and work as his secretary. There is so much to be done as this is a very crucial time to be making contacts, meeting with possible donors and getting everything organized for our proposed launch date of the first of next year. I am so excited to be home, and for the opportunity to be able to help my dad in this way. It is also so sweet for me to be in this position, since it has been a dream of mine since I was about eight to be my dad's secretary!
Other than that, I have been busy catching up on what is going on in my sibling's lives, and after being gone for nine months, there's alot to catch up on! I have enjoyed being back to "normal" home life, but I am also hoping to be able to make trips back to HQ every now and then. I hope to have the opportunity to help with future Journeys, possibly delegations, and just to visit all my wonderful friends.
My time at HQ was wonderful and something that I will never regret doing. I made some of the most amazing friends, got to lead several Journeys, was able to staff several conferences, and work alongside some of the most Godly committed young people I have ever met! The Lord used so many of the experiences I had while up there to continue to mold me into the image of His Son Jesus Christ.
Some of the most powerful experiences I had was each time that I was able to help lead a Journey to the Heart http://iblp.org/iblp/discipleship/journeytotheheart/. For those of you who are not familiar with the Journey to the Heart program, they are designed to allow young people to get away from all the distractions of daily life and seek the Lord. It is a ten day retreat in upper peninsula MI, held at one of the ministry's conference centers. It is focused on searching out your heart before the Lord and being real about where your walk with Him is. We have seen young people who thought they were saved for years get saved while on their Journey. It has been amazing to be a part of this ministry as I have seen time and again how God has worked in the lives of the young people who have attended the Journey.
Now, I would appreciate all of your prayers as I enter this new phase of my life. That I would walk worthy of the Lord who has called me into His service, and continue to find joy in serving Him in any capacity!
