"How do I love you? . . ."

". . . Let me count the ways."

My mom . . .

is amazing at making things special for us kids. Birthdays, holidays, random summer fun days...she can make any day amazing. And usually on a small budget too! She is amazingly good at thinking of all the little details that make a day special for us.

There is no one else I would rather have around when I am sick or hurting. From scraped knees to sick tummy's she can fix them all. She is so good at making me feel better, and has spent countless nights over the years by my bed rubbing my back, and praying for me until I fall asleep.

My mom is HANDS. DOWN. the best listener...EVER. When I am excited about something, I know that there wont be anyone more excited about my news than her. When I am upset, I know she will hurt for me, sometimes more than I am hurting myself.

My mom is funny. She really is. You know how in a lot of movies there is always this "cool" mom, and she does all kinds of funky stuff with her kids? Well, that's my mom. Never afraid to do something a little crazy or funny, to make us laugh. I love that about her :)

My mom is flexible. Since marrying my dad, she has lived in...at least 13 almost 14 different houses, and 8 of those were in the last 7 years. Somehow she has managed to make everyone of those houses cozy and beautiful.

My mom is completely selfless. I mean, I know in order to be a mom at all, you have to have some level of selflessness about you, well, my mom is off the charts on this one. Seriously, she will give up anything in order to make one of us kids (or dad!) happy.

My mom takes time for each one of us. I know one of the biggest concerns that people have with having a big family is, "How do you make time for them all?" I can honestly say that I have never felt like my mom did not have time for me. She seemed to almost be this omnipotent presence in my life all these years, practically always being where she was needed.

I was blessed to grow up with a mom who was always around, and always serving. I got to learn about life from my mom, and now she has become my biggest hero. Her heroism is something that I am coming to see more and more these days. I know they say that you will never really appreciate what your mom was to you until you are a mom yourself. Well, I am sure that is in part true, but right now, I want to say that I think you are amazing mom, and I hope that I can be a mommy just like you someday.

I love you.

Jessica

Wow! Of course, you know you made me cry with this post, Jessica! I don't deserve the tribute, but I sure enjoyed it! I love you very much! Thank you for your very kind words!

This is a great tribute to your mom, I also have a great Mom that is the best. I feel sorry for some that do not have this love in their lives. It is great to read other christian writers and your photography is cool. Jeff (I'm just passing through but I'm sure I will stop in again. A visit to my blog is welcome also but I'm just getting started.)
