There are days, moments, places in life where Jesus gives me no option but to rush to him and ask that he cover my hurts, ease my bewilderment, and hold me tight because I am so overwhelmed by confusion with what He is doing in my life. Oh how grateful I am for a living, intimately real, loving Father in Heaven who know's all things, and works EVERYTHING out for my good.
Today I find encouragement in these thoughts:
Today I find encouragement in these thoughts:
"God often takes a course for accomplishing His purposes directly contrary to what our narrow views would prescribe. He brings a death upon our feelings, wishes, and prospects when He is about to give us the desires of our heart."
~ John Newton

"Joy is not gush: joy is not jolliness. Joy is simply perfect acquiescence in God's will, because the soul delights itself in God himself...rejoice in the will of God, and in nothing else. Bow down your heads and your hearts before God, and let the will, the blessed will of God, be done."
~Amy Carmichael
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Whom have I in heaven but You?
And there is none upon earth that I desire besides You.
My flesh and my heart fail;
But God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.
-Psalm 73:25-26
"How beit your faith sees but the black side of Providence, yet it hath a better side, and God shall let you see it. We know that all things work together for good to them that love God; hence I infer that losses, disappointments, ill tongues, loss of friends, houses or country, are God's workmen, set on work to work out good to you, out of everything that befalleth you. When the Lord's blessed will bloweth cross your desires, it is best, in humility, to strike sail to Him, and to be willing to be led anyway our Lord pleaseth."
- Samuel Rutherford
Then, with my waking thoughts bright with thy praise,
out of my stony griefs Bethel I'll raise;
so by my woes to be
nearer, my God, to thee;
nearer, my God, to thee, nearer to thee!
And so I trust Him.
Hi Jessica!
Great post!=) I just finished an incredible book and it had an amazing quote that I think you might like =)
It says: "Sometime soon it will come. it may be that you suffer a severe blow or that you are called to make a sacrifice. But, in the strain of such a moment your eyes will be opened! and you will feel a great happiness take possession of you. And the world will light up and the sun will shine in places where before you saw only shadows. And you will cry what you believe and you will want everyone to hear"
sorry for the reaaally long comment... but I thought that that went well with the other quotes =) and it is definitely amazing how we can run into the arms of our savior... and He's right there waiting for us with His arms wide open =) I'll be praying for you! =)
