Christmastime more than any other time of the year is the time for remembering the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ, laughter, friends, good food, special parties, and traditions. It is a holiday that comes alive for each one of us in different and unique ways through traditions we have practiced for as long as we can remember. Over the years my family has developed alot of our own traditions of things that we do every year during the Christmas season. They involve certain movies, music, food, and activities that we all love.
But I am always curious to hear what other families/individuals do to make their Christmas time special. So, let me know what traditions your family has, write it in the comment box below this post and then I will also be posting some of our own traditions over the next week and a half. Also, as a little incentive for y'all to actually participate in this activity, I will be choosing a winner of the most creative, fun, and original post and the winner will get a Starbucks, Jamba, or Coldstone gift card, whichever they like best. You can share anything from your favorite movie to your favorite food/recipe or anything else you can think of.
I can't wait to hear from you all!

Every year my mom and I always watched White Christmas when it was on tv. Somewhere along the line (with the invention of VCRs and DVD players) I combined the tradition of White Christmas with decorating the Christmas tree. It is defintely a highlight of the season for me. :)
I read a Christmas story every night we are home from the collection of original stories on my site. I write a new story every year and read it to the family on Christmas Eve. I share that story the next year with the public.
Your blog is nice. Merry Christmas to all of you.
Hi Jessica,
One of our family traditions is going out driving (sometimes in our PJ's) to look at Christmas lights. I love it, and it's so much fun!
Merry Christmas!
Hi Jessica!
I just love your blog! I am a country girl and love photography too! My mother's blog is Generation Cedar. You have a beautiful header!
Some of my family's traditions include..going to my grandparents Christmas eve and before we open presents my grandfather always reads the Christmas story then we go around the room and say what we are thankful for; then sing christmas songs. Last year I made a bunch of costumes and me and my five of six siblings put on a play.
We also drive out in our pjs and look at Christmas lights.
Hi Jessica :) I found your blog through Amanda Bendixen's blog list :)
Our family traditions...making all kinds of Christmas cookies using my grandma's recipes, listening to Christmas music (only after Dec. 1st!), enjoying Christmas books and movies, making presents for family and friends, hosting a Christmas Eve party at our house, caroling at an old-fashioned village, having a special breakfast on a snowy Christmas morning, and last but not least, putting lights on the house and barn.
Such memories :) We are in the process of moving to Texas next week, so next year it will be Christmas with palm trees and the Alamo :)

P.S. Love the photography!
We have a family tradition that has happened at least since I was born. Christmas Eve night, we turn off all the lights and my whole family sits on our stairs and watches my Mom put out the different pieces of the manger scene (onto a ledge/balcony thing that has a secret door to their room) while my Dad reads the Christmas story out of the Bible. Recently this has become more special with all my nieces and nephews. Then we open one present before the big day :)
Hey Jeesica, lol ; )
Our family has many traditions but I think my favorite would be on Christmas Eve, after everything else is done, right before we all turn out the lights and go to bed, my mom concocts her secret recipe of "Sleeping Potion" and gives us all a nice, warm cup full. It tastes delicious! Then off to bed.
Of course I know it is mostly psychological, but I used to think it made me so sleepy I couldn't even walk to bed, so my daddy would pick me up ( me pretending to be sleeping) and carry me to my room. And as Sarah said, it is so fun to do it with all the little ones now.
