IPS - Institute of Photographic Studies

I had the last minute opportunity to go to San Antonio two weeks ago for a Photography workshop that I have wanted to go to for some time now. I had an AWESOME time, learned so much and came back loving photography even more than I did before I went. The instructors were so great, I loved just getting to talk to them on breaks and during free time and pick their brain with all the random photography questions I have.

The workshop went something like this...

It ran Monday morning through Friday night, and we usually spent most mornings in "class" listening to lectures from our instructors. After lunch and maybe one more quick lecture we would be sent out with an assignment of what kind of pics we were supposed to be taking that day, and then . . . on to the most fun part, taking pictures!!!

After taking pictures most of the afternoon and then dinner, we would get to sit down one on one with an instructor and they would critique our pics. I learned so much from this part of the day, it was always so awesome to get the instructors perspective!

Here are some of my favorite pics from the week, the rest you can see by clicking here.

Probably the coolest part of the whole week for me was getting to meet and watch Alyssa Welch work. She has long been my favorite photographer, and I love keeping up with her blog. My class had the opportunity to go and watch her do a photo shoot with her kids, it was AMAZING. I was practically giddy I was so happy the whole time. I wasn't able to get very many pics because I was so busy watching HER work, but here are a couple of shots I grabbed.

The pro herself...I was so happy to be there :)

Two of her adorable little guys, Christian and Caedmon.

Another Welch boy, Shelton. They are all going to be little heartbreakers in a few years :)

how fun! it brings back the memories, as I went to IPS about 6 months ago. I loved your pictures, and am glad you got to go. Makes me sad though, cause I would love to see the instructors again... :)
